Laying the foundations for a net zero future with carbon capture

We can’t get to net zero without laying the foundations first. For the cement industry, this means accelerating the deployment of CCUS in existing and future operations.

From first-of-a-kind facilities to groundbreaking projects, we deliver sustainable solutions and deep expertise across the entire CCUS value chain. As a trusted global partner, we help our customers around the world navigate and conquer the complexities of CCUS.

Turning ambition into action for net zero cement

We’re proud to support Heidelberg Materials’ landmark carbon capture project at its Padeswood cement works in North Wales – the first of its kind in the UK. In collaboration with MHI Group, we’re delivering front-end engineering and design (FEED) services, supporting the cement industry’s journey toward commercially viable decarbonization.

The right support, at every stage

We understand the challenges the cement industry is facing when it comes to implementing CCUS. Whether it’s prioritizing the decarbonization of assets, weighing up CAPEX and OPEX decisions, debating technology selections, comparing infrastructure options, or navigating global policies.

From concept to execution

Our customers benefit from a full value chain experience and an integrated service for consulting, engineering, fabrication and construction.

Technology neutrality and diversity

Our technology-neutral position enables independent and impartial technology assessment, integration, and implementation.

Global experience, delivered locally

With over 100 CCUS subject matter experts and six CCUS communities of excellence around the world, we offer global experience with local expertise.

We implement a broad range of carbon capture solutions, ranging from pre-combustion, post-combustion, and oxy-fuel combustion, direct air capture, and other emerging technologies.

As a technology-neutral partner, we:

  • help to identify the most suitable technology based on our customers' unique operational processes, emission profiles, available utilities, and regulatory landscape
  • assess the technical feasibility and commercial viability of each technology, considering factors such as cost, efficiency, and scalability
  • provide an overview of the CCUS technology landscape, including mature and emerging technologies
  • actively support the development and commercialization of emerging technologies and ensure that our customers have access to the latest advancements.

With over 50 years of cross sector experience, our global teams have the skillsets and experience to work with and advise on all types of flue gasses.

By providing expert insight into carbon capture utilization (CCU), we guide our customers in exploring the best opportunities and selecting the most suitable carbon management and technology solutions for their specific needs.

We cover the entire utilization value chain – from CO2 monetization and stream utilization to accelerating time-to-market and ensuring project delivery certainty for low-carbon fuel producers and technology developers.

Additionally, we support our customers in scaling their CCUS projects, guiding them from first-of-a-kind initiatives and solution development to pilot testing and evaluating the viability of full-scale commercial implementation.

With our legacy experience in gas processing, we’ve worked on some of the largest CO2 compression and transportation projects executed in the world. We understand the complex behavior of CO2, dehydration and compression, onshore and offshore pipelines.

We work on the most suitable technical and economic options for our customer’s decarbonization projects.

The permanent storage of CO2 is a critical component in the net zero scenario. Drawing on our experience in conventional energy and subsurface technologies, we advise and evaluate the attractiveness and commercial viability of storage opportunities available for our customers.
