Advancing Finland’s hydrogen economy with Gasgrid
We’ve been awarded a four-year framework agreement for Owner’s Engineering (OE) Services by the Finnish Gas Transmission System Operator, Gasgrid Finland Oy.
The project will extend beyond Finland to cover infrastructure ranging across the Baltic Sea area and Sweden. We’ll provide services for the pipeline system in Finland until 2028, with the option for extension until 2032.
Under our scope, we’ll support and advise Gasgrid to ensure the engineering and construction of the onshore pipeline projects are planned and implemented in line with the highest standards and quality. Our OE services will be provided primarily through our offices in The Netherlands and Finland with support from the Global Integrated Delivery (GID) team in India.
“Finland is among the most committed countries in developing a fully integrated hydrogen economy, an important dimension of global energy transition,” says Jelle Nederstigt, President of Europe and Central Asia. “Worley is proud to contribute to this innovative, sustainable project, which brings significant momentum to Finland’s national energy strategy and helps deliver a more sustainable world.”

“Gasgrid’s strategy is to advance the hydrogen economy and renewable energy related investments in Finland,” says Esa Hallivuori, Senior Vice President of Infrastructure Projects at Gasgrid. “Our goal is to maximize national economic benefits from hydrogen economy. We strive for high added-value investments and exports, growth of technology and service sector and the development of EU hydrogen markets to accelerate Finland’s hydrogen economy and other renewable energy related investments.
“With the cooperation of Worley, Gasgrid envisions a long-term partnership to enable strategic project development and infrastructure investments,” adds Hallivuori.
